PDEA DESTROYS ₱4.56 BILLION WORTH OF ILLEGAL DRUGS IN CAVITE

Reaffirms Commitment to Transparency and Accountability

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) destroyed illegal drugs worth ₱4,563,517,903.02 on March 24, 2026, at the Integrated Waste Management Inc. (IWMI) facility in Barangay Aguado, Trece Martires City, Cavite.

The destruction activity was witnessed by Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jonvic C. Remulla, who served as Guest of Honor and Speaker, alongside key representatives from law enforcement agencies, the Department of Justice (DOJ), non-government organizations (NGOs), media partners, and local barangay officials. The presence of these stakeholders underscored the government’s strong commitment to transparency and public accountability.

A total of 1,136.5521 kilograms of solid illegal drugs and 657.1300 milliliters of liquid substances were destroyed through thermal decomposition or thermolysis. Among the confiscated substances were:

555.2393 kg of Methamphetamine Hydrochloride (Shabu)

442.9399 kg of Marijuana

1.6651 kg of MDMA (Ecstasy)

117.3860 kg of Cocaine

15.8149 kg of Ephedrine

0.5070 kg of Ketamine

Also included were liquid drugs such as amphetamine, liquid meth, marijuana extracts, toluene, and various surrendered expired medicines.

These substances were seized during anti-drug operations conducted by PDEA and partner law enforcement agencies, as well as those turned over following court orders after successful prosecution and case resolution.

Notably, part of the destroyed drugs included over 43,000 grams of marijuana (kush) and more than 102,000 grams of cocaine recovered along the shorelines of coastal areas in Palawan between late last year and early this year.

PDEA Director General Undersecretary Isagani R. Nerez commended coastal communities for their vigilance:

“PDEA remains committed to fostering partnerships with coastal communities to prevent maritime drug smuggling, and we laud their integrity in promptly surrendering recovered floating drugs.”

Under strict security protocols, the confiscated drugs were placed inside a high-capacity incinerator and are expected to be completely destroyed beyond recovery within 24 hours.

Nerez emphasized that PDEA’s efforts go beyond seizure:

“We ensure that once these illegal drugs are taken off the streets, they are permanently destroyed. Our quarterly destruction activities are conducted in full public view to eliminate any risk of recycling and to uphold public trust.”

He further stressed that these measures align with the Bagong Pilipinas vision of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., highlighting integrity, accountability, and decisive governance.

PDEA also expressed appreciation to the Regional Trial Courts (RTCs) for the swift resolution of drug cases, enabling the timely disposal of evidence, as well as to partner agencies and communities for their continued support in the national anti-drug campaign.

Similar destruction operations are being carried out nationwide as PDEA Regional Offices continue regular disposal of seized illegal drugs within their respective jurisdictions.
