MPCALA Holdings Inc. Receives Three GREEN Awards from Santa Rosa City for Environmental Sustainability

SANTA ROSA CITY, Laguna — MPCALA Holdings Inc. (MPHI), a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC) and the concessionaire of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAX), has once again been recognized by the City Government of Santa Rosa, Laguna, for its outstanding commitment to environmental sustainability. This marks the fourth consecutive year that the company has received the prestigious recognition.
The honors were conferred during the city's annual Guarantee the Restoration of the Environment & our Ecological Niche (GREEN) Awards, a recognition program that celebrates organizations, institutions, and individuals for their meaningful contributions to environmental protection, conservation, and sustainable development.

This year, CALAX earned three major awards for its exemplary environmental initiatives:
Sustainable Development Partner – for MPCALA's active participation in coastal clean-up activities that help preserve ecosystems, reduce pollution in Laguna Lake, and support climate change mitigation efforts.

Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Partner – in recognition of the company's successful implementation of renewable energy solutions and energy-efficient practices across its offices, toll plazas, and operational facilities.

Earth Hour Advocate – for its consistent participation in the global Earth Hour campaign and its continuing efforts to promote energy conservation and environmental awareness.
The awards were presented by the City Government of Santa Rosa and formally received by representatives of MPCALA Holdings Inc.

Pangilinan, President and General Manager of MPCALA Holdings Inc.
One of the company's flagship sustainability projects is the MPT South Hub, which features 1,184 solar panels capable of generating approximately 97 percent of the building's energy requirements. The facility also incorporates a rainwater harvesting system, reducing water consumption by around 10 percent, and includes electric vehicle (EV) charging stations to support the company's transition toward a greener corporate fleet.
CALAX is a 44.6-kilometer expressway linking the provinces of Cavite and Laguna. Once fully completed, the expressway is expected to accommodate approximately 95,000 motorists daily. Currently, its operational sections extend from Biñan, Laguna to General Trias, Cavite, cutting travel time from about one hour to just 26 minutes.
Beyond improving transportation efficiency, CALAX continues to promote environmental sustainability by reducing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions through shorter travel times. Its long-term environmental initiatives include expanding the use of solar power, rainwater harvesting systems, and the gradual electrification of its corporate vehicle fleet, reinforcing its commitment to responsible, innovative, and sustainable expressway operations.
