Shakey's Pagsanjan Branch Opens, Symbolizing Economic Progress and Community Collaboration
PAGSANJAN, LAGUNA — The bustling town of Pagsanjan celebrated a milestone in its economic growth with the grand opening of its first Shakey’s Pizza Parlor on [insert date]. The event, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a blessing, was attended by local leaders, business stakeholders, and Shakey’s representatives, underscoring the town’s commitment to fostering progress through public-private partnerships.
A Celebration of Progress The ribbon-cutting was led by key figures (from left to right):

- Mrs. Rosalina Basa and Mr. Arsenio Basa, property lessors instrumental in securing the branch’s location;- Brgy. Chairwoman Teresita Principe of Barangay Biñan, Pagsanjan;
- Hon. Cesar Areza, Municipal Mayor of Pagsanjan;- Mrs. Lilith Areza, the mayor’s spouse and active community partner;
- Ms. Onie Mercado, Shakey’s Operations Manager.
In his address, Mayor Areza hailed the opening as a testament to Pagsanjan’s rising potential: “Ang pagbukas ng Shakey’s sa ating bayan ay patunay na patuloy ang pag-unlad dito! Sa pagpapalakas ng negosyo, parami nang parami ang trabaho para sa ating mga kababayan.” (“The opening of Shakey’s in our town proves that progress continues! By strengthening businesses, we multiply jobs for our people.”)
Aligning with a Vision for Growth
The mayor reiterated his slogan, “Negosyo palakasin, trabaho paramihin” (“Strengthen businesses, multiply jobs”), emphasizing that attracting established brands like Shakey’s aligns with the municipality’s goals to:
1. Boost Local Employment: The branch creates jobs for residents, from kitchen staff to management roles.
2. Encourage Investment: The presence of a national franchise signals confidence in Pagsanjan’s economy, potentially attracting more businesses.
3. Enhance Community Services: Increased business revenue can fund infrastructure and social programs.
A Collaborative Effort
The Basa couple, who leased the property, highlighted their pride in contributing to Pagsanjan’s development. Meanwhile, Shakey’s Ms. Mercado expressed excitement to serve the community, noting plans to source local ingredients where possible. Fr. Lorica’s blessing also underscored the community’s values, blending faith with aspirations for prosperity.

The event concluded with a festive pizza feast, symbolizing unity and shared optimism. For Mayor Areza, this milestone is just the beginning: “Ang Shakey’s ay isa lamang sa maraming negosyong darating.
