The 2022 data of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)
presents that 99.59% of the total business enterprises in the country belongs
to hilippine Statistics Authority (PSA) presents that 99,59% of the Micro
enterprises constitue 90.49% or 1,004,195 of the total establishments. The
CALABARZON CEO Reges the 14.81% or 163,710 of the nation's MSMES.
With these growing numbers, the Department of Trade and
Industry also realizes the needs of the MSMEs to actively respond to the
challenges of today's rapidly evolving landscape with consideration to the
growing demands of consumers.
As the agency's commitment to the call of the current
administration for a Bagong Pilipinas, several interventions have been
initiated and implemented to assist the MSMEs. The department has now
intensified its mission of Angat Negosyo by encouraging the MSMEs to maximize
the use of digital technologies in advancing their businesses. From January
2023 to present, DTI has onboarded thousands of MSMEs nationwide in e-commerce.
These digital efforts include training in various social media platforms to
expand market reach. Through the Negosyo Centers in the cities and
municipalities MSMEs can seek assistance for their business concerns.
This year, the Department of Trade and Industry Laguna in
partnership with the Provincial Government of Laguna, Enchanted Kingdom and the
Laguna Chamber of Commerce and Industry brings the 2nd MSME Summit for Laguna
business owners. This aims to share the programs initiated by these agencies to
promote and accelerate local brands.
In particular, the summit aims to encourage existing MSMEs
to constantly improve and participate in various programs initiated by the
government particularly in the field of digitalization/innovation; and become a
venue for entrepreneurs and key stakeholders to collaborate and provide
opportunities for wider access to technology, and market.
The Laguna MSME Summit 2024 includes simultaneous events
such as a business conference with discussions on digitalization and leveraging
Al in business operations; and a trade fair showcasing the wide array of
products of Laguna from native delicacies to fashion and traditional crafts.
Moreover, some of the highlights of this celebration are the awarding of livelihood kits to the 30 beneficiaries of the 2024 Youth Entrepreneurship Program or YEP, a focused program to address the young demographics of the country to become productive individuals through entrepreneurship; and the awarding of the first 50 Laguna MSME owners for the Likhang Laguna Product Certification Seal. Likhang Laguna Product Seal is a certification program, initiated by the Provincial Government of Laguna in partnership with the Department of Trade and Industry Laguna Provincial Office, that signifies that a product is made in Laguna and meets high standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. The program aims to recognize quality products and producers, promote consumer trust in homegrown products, and uphold sustainable economic growth.
